About

I wanted a map poster of London for my wall. The options were either mass-produced prints that looked like they came from an airport gift shop, or custom maps that cost £150 and took three weeks. Neither was right.

So I built my own. The maps are generated from OpenStreetMap data, the same open-source dataset that powers most of the mapping you use. I render each city at full street level, not as a stylised approximation: every road, every waterway, every park boundary is where it actually is. The 11 colour themes came from experimentation, not from a brief. Noir is the purest: black streets on white, the city as linework. Night reverses it: dark blue streets on near-black, like a city seen from a plane after dark. Swell shifts everything into ocean tones, which worked for coastal cities in a way I did not expect when I first tried it.

Every poster is printed on demand on 200gsm archival matte paper with UV-resistant pigment inks. I do not hold inventory. Every order goes directly to the printer, no overstock, no waste. The paper is FSC certified. The print facility is in the same region as the delivery address, so nothing travels further than it needs to.

Noir works for cities where the street pattern is the story. Paris, Prague, Rome: the dense medieval fabric, every block different. Swell suits coastal cities. Sydney, San Francisco, Rio. Places where the boundary between land and water defines the layout. Faded is for cities where the light is what you remember. Lisbon, Los Angeles, Marrakech. The colourway matters as much as the city, and I have opinions about which combination works for a given wall.
